When you look at a truck, what do you see? Like most, especially if you’re driving a passenger car, you can’t get over the size of these vehicles.
If a car is involved in an accident with a truck, the size difference alone is a major problem. The person or people in the smaller vehicle have a much greater chance of being seriously injured or even killed.
Despite the fact that there are many laws in place to keep the roads safe, some commercial truck drivers don’t take caution. Instead, they continue to push the limit.
Truck accidents happen for many reasons, including the following:
— Speeding and other forms of reckless driving.
— Fatigue.
— Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
— Distracted driving, including but not limited to texting and talking on a cellphone.
— Lack of training.
— Poor truck maintenance.
— Tire blowout.
— Improperly loaded trailer.
As somebody sharing the road with trucks, these things may scare you. Here’s why: There is no way of knowing if the truckers in close proximity to your vehicle are acting in the appropriate manner and taking the necessary steps to remain safe.
If you’re involved in a truck accident, you should first seek medical attention. Then, once time allows, you can learn more about why the trucker caused the accident.
